Beneficial was started in 1853 as a savings institute in Philadelphia.   Fast forward to 2014 and they were one of the oldest and largest banks headquartered in Philadelphia.  They were a full service financial institution with over $5.9 billion in assets and more than 62 offices in PA and NJ.  They had nearly 1,000 employees before being acquired by WSFS Bank
